I'm looking forward to getting HAPPY

Tonight I’m planning a little West Philly adventure to take in some culture. I’m going to check out the HAPPY SHOW, an exhibit at the ICA and I bet… it’s going to be awesome.

Who is obsessed with Fab.com? I am I am! Who receives those daily emails chock full of items you desire, (but still can not afford)? I do. The way we shop is ever evolving - remember when you went to, REAL STORES in places called THE MALL? So when I was offered an opportunity to work on one of these new shopping sites, I was in!
Let me introduce to you Dealbird - a group buying website. Always fancied an Eames chair but can’t quite afford that big ticket price? Well Dealbird let’s you team up with others who share the same desire in hopes of scoring a deal. There is bargaining power in numbers, people!
Dealbird needed to create a friendly face for consumers of all kinds. From the crafty mom, to the gear-headed car enthusiast, the interface had to be clear, friendly and memorable. So after a 2 days of a UX brainstorm, a crap ton of wireframing and gallon or so of coffee, the new DealBird was… hatched. Check it out!

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of serving as Creative Director for TEDxPhilly, a unique, one-day multi-disciplinary conference held in Philadelphia. For 5 months I worked as a volunteer with an amazing group of people to make this event happen. From the design and creation of the stage elements, to the event’s 100+ page program, I was honored with the opportunity to work on so many design facets of the event. Working as THE GAMUT, Roz and I began by designing and developing the website. We chose to build it on Wordpress and created a design based on the WOO Theme, Briefed - you can see more about TEDxPhilly and Woo Theme’s here.
Once the website was created, it was time to promote. We created a variety of online ads for the local media outlets, as well as simple leave-behind promos. We even created a promotional “X”video with the amazing group, The Free Film Collective. While branded items kept me busy during the day, the evenings were filled with scouting oversized pieces of cardboard in order to build a RED CITY for the event. For one month we rented out the 5th floor of a building with the scariest elevator I have ever experienced! We hauled TONS of recycled cardboard up there and created multiple seamless structures based on an original paper model. Once built, they were painted according to brand standards and polished up for stage display.
The day of the event went by quickly, but the memory of the experience won’t fade anytime soon. Working on so many designed facets for such an inspiring event was truly an honor. View the TEDxPhilly project.
